Having surpassed the Michalengelo, Sandton Office Tower and Carlton Centre (223 metres), the Leonardo in Sandton City at 233 metres is now the (unofficially) the tallest building in Africa as of 30th June 2019.
Johannesburg, for decades, a major commercial and financial centre of the continent, is about to become renowned for another reason; a 55-storey (233 meter) luxury development that will become the tallest building in Africa. The uncompleted building currently stands at 203.74m from ground level at the entrance and reaches the 51st floor.
Designed by Co-Arc International Architects for Nedbank and the Legacy Group, the Leonardo Tower, which forms part of the Seventy Five on Maude development in the heart of Sandton, is a pioneering mixed use development that will bring new life into ‘Africa’s richest square-mile’.
When completed in 2019, the Leonardo Tower will reach 55-storeys, about 233 metres. The publically accessible podium levels and the public viewing platform on the 55th floor, luxury residential apartments and penthouses and upscale office accommodation will provide public amenity and a sought-after address in the heart of Africa’s financial centre.
